In a solemn yet culturally rich ceremony, the Member of Parliament for the Ekumfi Constituency, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, led his family and community to unveil a statue in honour of his late father, Nana Enoo Mutaku II, as part of activities marking the 10th Anniversary of the revered traditional leader.
The event, held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Ekumfi Essarkyir, celebrated the enduring legacy of Nana Enoo Mutaku II, who was widely respected for his selflessness, discipline, and unwavering commitment to community development.

Known in private life as Mr. Kenneth Tapley Kwainoe, Nana Enoo Mutaku II was born and raised in Ajumako-Bisease in the Central Region. His academic journey was distinguished, earning both C.M.B and Government scholarships to attend Mfantsipim School, where he obtained the West African School Certificate and Cambridge High School Certificate. He later proceeded to the then University of Gold Coast, Legon, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, and further obtained a postgraduate diploma in London.
Professionally, he served with distinction in Ghana’s public service, beginning at the Auditor-General’s Department, where he rose to the position of Assistant Director. His competence saw him serve at the Office of Government Machinery at the Castle, and later at the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department, where he played a pivotal role in restructuring the Inspectorate Division. He eventually rose to become Deputy Controller and Accountant-General, at times acting in the topmost role.
In 1976, he was enstooled as the first-ever Mankrado of Ekumfi Essarkyir, taking the stool name Nana Enoo Mutaku II, and went on to become the longest-serving chief in the area, serving for 37 years. His reign was marked by visionary leadership, humility, and an unrelenting passion for uplifting his people.
His commitment to service extended into politics, where he contested the 1979 parliamentary elections. Though unsuccessful, his resolve to serve remained unshaken as he returned to public service and later became Director of Audit at Ghana Telecom.
Beyond public service, Nana Mutaku II was a strong advocate for education. and also served as Board Chairman of the Bisease Secondary Vocational School where Ghana's current Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson attened. As Chairman of the Bisease Development Association for over a decade, he championed numerous development projects.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nana Essel VII described the late chief as a man of humility and deep love for his community.
The unveiling of the statue symbolised the immortalisation of a legacy built on service, integrity, and compassion.
On behalf of the family, Mr. Samuel Kwainoe eulogised their father through five defining values: his love for community, exemplary leadership, compassion and scholarship support, discipline, and his lasting legacy. He urged the youth to embrace discipline and hard work to achieve success.
Hon. Dr. Kwainoe continues to reflect these values in his public service, inspiring many within the constituency.
Other traditional leaders encouraged the youth to take up leadership roles, while Nana Otwer Koko Nyeiku VII highlighted Nana Mutaku II’s foresight, humility, and dedication to community advancement.
To sustain his passion for education, the family has established the Nana Enoo Mutaku II Education Trust Fund to support brilliant but needy students.
The event drew dignitaries from all walks of life to honour a man whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
