Ekumfi MP Tours BECE Centres

The Member of Parliament for Ekumfi Constituency, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, has toured various Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres across Ekumfi to monitor proceedings and show support to candidates.

His visit formed part of efforts to offer oversight and encouragement to the 2025 BECE candidates. Addressing the students, Dr Kwainoe urged them to give their utmost best in order to excel in the exams and secure brighter futures.

Prior to the examination, the MP had distributed mathematical sets to all 1,539 candidates in the district to aid in their preparation. He also assured them of additional support packages, including mattresses, chop boxes, stationery, and other essentials for Senior High School, for those who perform exceptionally well. Further sponsorship initiatives were also promised.

The District Director of Education, Ms Kafui Mary Ahlijah, joined the MP on the tour and encouraged candidates to remain focused and committed to achieving academic excellence.

Hon. Ekow Kwainoe, MP, Visits Ekumfi Fruits and Juices Company Limited

MP for Ekumfi visits Ekumfi Fruits & Juices Co. Ltd. 

As part of his commitment to fostering development and ensuring accountability, the Member of Parliament for Ekumfi Constituency, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, has paid a working visit to Ekumfi Fruits and Juices Company Limited. The visit on Monday, February 17, 2025 aimed to gain firsthand insights into the company’s operations, challenges, achievements and prospects for growth.

During the visit, Mr. Fred, a representative of the company, briefed the MP on their success including, exporting their products the U.S. through Walmart Online, being one of the producers of 100% organic fruit juices in Ghana, offering five distinct flavours; Pineapple Only, Pine-Tropic, Pine-Ginja, Tropic-Ginja, and Pine-Melon-Ginja and above all, cultivating their own fruits to sustain production.


Despite these achievement, several operational challenges hindering their full potential were highlighted. He stressed the urgent need for, large-scale farms to ensure year-round fruit production to meet demand, stable electricity supply as the machines require up to 90 minutes to warm up before running since frequent power outages disrupt operations, reliable water supply since the factory currently depends on private water suppliers, increasing production costs.

He explained that, these challenges limit their production capacity to 2,800 cartons per day on a single shift, whereas a double shift could yield up to 5,000 cartons. To bridge this gap, he called for capital investment and strategic support to expand operations.

Hon. Dr. Kwainoe reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the factory in overcoming these obstacles. He emphasised that fully operationalizing the facility would create more job opportunities for locals and significantly boost the district’s economy.

“This factory has the potential to transform the local economy and create sustainable jobs. I will do everything within my capacity to address these challenges to ensure its full opreationalisation,”  he assured.

Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe Pays Working Visit to Ekumfi District Assembly

As part of his familiarisation and working tour within the Ekumfi Constituency, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, has paid an official visit to the Ekumfi District Assembly. The visit on Monday, February 3, 2025, aimed to foster stronger collaboration between the MP’s office and the Assembly to promote development across the district.

During a meeting with the management and entire staff, Hon. Dr. Kwainoe expressed worry about the performance of the district which found its way in the Public Accounts Committee hearing. He emphasised his commitment to a collaborative approach in addressing the challenges of the district. 

He underscored that his mandate comes from the people, and his success is tied directly to meeting their expectations. “I’m here because of my people, because they gave me authority and power to do their work. They expect nothing but the best from me, so if I fail, I will lose my seat. I come with a lot of fire because I must deliver on the promises I made during my campaigns,” he stated.

The Parliamentarian stressed the urgent need for change, highlighting that, repeating the same approaches would not yield different results. “For that change to happen, we must be ready to be agents of change,” he added, urging staff to enhance accountability, innovation, and a results-driven mindset.

Hon. Ekow Kwainoe requested an inventory of all uncompleted projects in the district as well as their action plan, emphasising the need to track progress and ensure accountability.

Mr. Douglas Osei Yeboah, the District Coordinating Director, commended Dr. Kwainoe on his move to ensuring a collaborative progress for the district. He called for cooperation with the assembly to fight for the establishment of a Fire Service station to improve emergency response capabilities, Immigration Service post to enhance security within the district. Other key areas of focus included harnessing the district’s tourism potential for economic growth, boosting local commerce and supporting traders by constructing a market complex, streamlining legal matters, especially land-related issues and ensuring innovative revenue generation regime.

He requested the MP to present his schedule on the disbursement of his common fund so as to enable the assembly have a comprehensive budgetary allocation for the district.

Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe called for unity and hardwork assuring staff of his open-door policy, encouraging them to share ideas and suggestions freely. “Don’t see yourself as too small because wisdom cometh from areas that we don’t even expect,” he said, stressing the importance of teamwork in achieving the district’s developmental goals.

Assembly staff raised concerns about poverty, with only 3% of budget allocations reaching the district, significantly limiting development efforts. 

Sanitation was also identified as a major issue, largely attributed to behavioural factors. The MP urged the Assembly to intensify public education campaigns while enforcing sanitation regulations. 


Calls we made to establish a dedicated land desk to manage development-related land issues and prevent litigation. The suggestion also included earmarking lands for specific purposes to attract investors.

On revenue generation, Dr. Kwainoe encouraged the Assembly to adopt innovative strategies, leveraging data and best practices to boost internally generated funds. “I am very hands-on. I’ll be checking, looking, and asking questions because I believe that’s how progress is made,” he remarked.

Mr. Safianu Zibrim, the Budget Analyst, appealed to the MP to look beyond his Common Fund allocations and actively seek additional support from the Common Fund Secretariat to finance key projects in the district.

As the district awaits the nomination of a District Chief Executive, Dr. Kwainoe emphasised that, whoever is appointed must align with the collective vision for Ekumfi’s growth. “My minister has made it clear that, the DCE is coming to work for the government and with the MP. Therefore, it’s my duty to ensure that whoever becomes the DCE aligns with the vision we have for the whole of Ekumfi.”

Hon. Ekow Kwainoe concluded with a passionate appeal; “Help me so that we can all build Ekumfi and this District Assembly together. I’m sure that when things get better, it will benefit all of us.”

Ekumfi Abor Residents Laud MP for Emergency Water Aid

Residents of Ekumfi Abor and its surrounding areas have expressed immerse gratitude and excitement over the timely intervention of their Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, to alleviate the ongoing water crisis in the area.

For some time now, several communities in the Central Region, including Ekumfi Abor, have been experiencing acute water shortages. In response to residents’ cry for help, Hon. Kwainoe took swift action by arranging for water tanker to supply the community with potable water.

The gesture has been met with widespread appreciation, with residents commending the MP for his dedication and willingness to support them in their time of need. They have expressed hope that, this intervention will continue until the water crisis is resolved.

While the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) works to address the issue, residents are calling on the utility provider to expedite efforts to restore regular water supply or at least provide a clear schedule for water distribution. This, they believe, will enable them to plan and store water effectively.

Hon. Kwainoe’s action has also prompted appeals from other parts of the constituency, such as Attakwaa and nearby communities including his hometown, Essarkyir who are experiencing similar challenges and hopeful for his assistance.

I am Prepared for any Opportunity that Comes My Way - MP-Elect for Ekumfi Constituency

As Ghana awaits the inauguration of Members of Parliament and the President-Elect, the MP-Elect for Ekumfi Constituency, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, has expressed his readiness to serve in any capacity within the incoming administration. With a strong background in finance and agriculture, he believes his expertise could be instrumental in driving national development.

In an interview with Akwasi Nsiah on Adom TV on Thursday, January 2, 2025, Dr. Kwainoe noted that his experience in the finance and banking sector, coupled with his current achievements in farming positions him for significant roles. The MP-Elect emphasized his preparedness to contribute meaningfully, stating, “So given the opportunity, I would not miss it; I will do my very best.”

Dr. Kwainoe’s farming accomplishments include winning the 2021 District Best Farmer and the 2022 Central Regional Best Pineapple Farmer awards. He currently cultivates a 60-acre pineapple plantation and is involved in coconut and palm plantations. Additionally, he plans to establish a 2,000-capacity poultry farm in 2025.

One of his key aspirations is to revitalize the Ekumfi Fruits and Juices Factory and establish a Salt Refinery. These initiatives, he believes, will dovetail into John Dramani Mahama’s vision of a 24-hour economy, boosting local economic growth and creating direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The MP-Elect also highlighted agriculture’s pivotal role in stabilizing the economy. He proposed interventions such as providing subsidized or free fertilizers, introducing modern farming equipment and scaling up production to meet both local and international demands. Such measures, he argues would generate foreign exchange, stabilize the Cedi and reduce inflation.

Dr. Kwainoe credited his God-fearing nature, patience, hardwork and consistency as the driving forces behind his achievements. He noted that, his family background serves as a source of encouragement to leave a lasting legacy of dedication and service.

The recent calls by the Chiefs of Ekumfi on President-Elect for competent individuals to be considered for appointments underscores Dr. Kwainoe’s suitability for leadership roles. With his multifaceted expertise and passion for development, he remains optimistic about his ability to support his constituents and contribute immensely to national development.

MP-Elect for Ekumfi Constituency Thanks Constituents, Wishes Contender Well

The Member of Parliament (MP)-Elect for the Ekumfi Constituency, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to his constituents for granting him a resounding victory in the just-ended election.

Speaking on Coastal FM 94.9 MHz, a radio station in Mankessim on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Dr. Kwainoe thanked everyone in the constituency for their overwhelming support, emphasizing the need for unity and collective effort to build an Ekumfi that benefits all residents.

In a display of political tolerance and maturity, Dr. Kwainoe congratulated his contender, Hon. Stelfa Nana Adu Okumkom Donkor, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their good fight in the election. He encouraged his opponent to return stronger and better, emphasizing that, “there is time for everyone.”

Addressing his plans for the constituency, Ekow Kwainoe assured his constituents of transparency and accountability. He cautioned officials in the Ekumfi District Assembly and other stakeholders who may have diverted or misused public funds to put right their actions immediately, otherwise face scrutiny and accountability measures. He further reiterated his vision to get the constituency on track spanning from Education, Health, Agriculture, Sports to Road Infrastructure. 

Dr. Kwainoe’s victory is seen as a strong endorsement of his dedication and vision to transform the Ekumfi Constituency and positively impact lives of its people.

Mahama Touts Ekow Kwainoe’s Achievement: Urges Electorate to Vote Massively for Him

In a three-day campaign tour to the Central Region, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate for the 2024 elections, has called on voters in the Ekumfi Constituency to support Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe in his bid to secure a seat in Ghana’s Parliament on December 7, 2024.

The former President made this appeal on Saturday, November 9, 2024, during a community engagement at Ekumfi Immuna. Mahama’s endorsement of Dr. Kwainoe stems from the candidate’s unwavering commitment to development in Ekumfi, even prior to assuming an official position as a Member of Parliament (MP). He highlighted one of Kwainoe’s notable initiatives; the reshaping and resurfacing of the Immuna road as a testament to his dedication.

Mr. Mahama acknowledged that Kwainoe’s intervention on the Immuna road greatly facilitated their journey to the community, which would otherwise have been prolonged significantly due to the road’s previous condition. He assured residents that, if elected, he would ensure a more extensive upgrade of the Immuna road along with other critical roads in the constituency to promote economic activities and drive development.

For Mahama, a victory in the upcoming elections will mean the opportunity to complete his second term, reset and restore the nation’s progress, and deliver good governance following the mess under the current administration. He emphasized that, Dr. Ekow Kwainoe’s election would provide Ekumfi Constituency with dependable advocate in Parliament serving as a catalyst for sustainable development.

Ekumfi Chiefs Petition Mahama For Development

The Chiefs of the Ekumfi Traditional Area have appealed to the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, urging him to address their development needs if he wins the 2024 elections.

Speaking on behalf of the chiefs, Nana Otwer Koko Nyieku VII, the Sumankwaahen of Ekumfi Traditional Area and Odzikro of Ekumfi Srafa commended Mahama’s achievements during his previous term as president, describing him as “Action Man” and “Edwumawura” in contrast to the current NPP government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia. Nana Nyieku VII lamented that, the current administration has neglected Ekumfi, noting that, “not even a kilometer of road has been tarred by this current administration.’ 

Nana Nyieku VII expressed confidence that, only Mahama’s leadership and the NDC’s governance could bring the much needed development to Ekumfi. He urged Mahama to prioritize infrastructure projects such as road improvements and the mechanization of agriculture. He further pledged the chiefs’ readiness to allocate land for agricultural and other developmental initiatives.

Reiterating the community’s desire for change, Nana Nyieku VII cautioned Mahama to remain alert and attentive in the upcoming elections, despites the gods endorsing his victory. “Shine your eyes,” he repeated three times, emphasizing the need for vigilance.

Finally, Nana Nyieku VII appealed to Mahama to consider Dr. Ekow Kwainoe for appointment in his government, seeing it a strategic move to foster development within Ekumfi.

“Be Messengers with Good Moral Character,” NDC Communicators Charged

The Deputy Central Regional Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Comrade Emmanuel Kweku Arkoh Yeboah, has called on communication officers within Ekumfi Constituency to uphold moral integrity and professionalism in their roles. He emphasized that, exhibiting good moral character and being diligent would not only attract new members but also make the party more appealing thereby enhancing its chances of in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 13-Member Communication Committee of the NDC in Ekumfi on Friday, October, 11, 2024, Comrade Kweku Arkoh noted that, the attitudes and actions of some as well as lack of active engagement had at times discouraged potential supporters. He urged officers to embrace their roles as messengers of the party with a high moral standard. “Be messengers with good moral character,” he stressed highlighting how vital this is in political engagement as that would have a positive impact on the party’s progress. He further advised communicators to give opportunities for other competent individuals to serve, emphasizing the benefits of a diverse and skilled team.

He also addressed the issue of inadequate logistics, which hampers effective communication. He urged party leadership and other stakeholders to offer words of encouragement and practical resources to enhance communication efforts. As a sign of his commitment, he donated a cash of Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢500.00) and announced that, his boss, Hon. Gabriella Tetteh, the Regional Communications Officer, would donate megaphones to augment communicators’ outreach efforts.

In a strategic discussion on the theme, “The Resetting Ghana Agenda; the Ekumfi Perspective,” Comrade Kwesi Dawood, former Regional Communications Officer, elaborated on key policies from the NDC’s 2024 manifesto. He urged communicators and “serial callers” alike to thoroughly understand these policies and present them effectively to the electorate. One of the interventions he highlighted was the “Formula 1-3-3,” which is part of the NDC’s 24-hour economy policy initiative aimed at driving economic growth by creating a three-shift system for businesses and public institutions, with each shift running for eight (8) hours.

Comrade Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, the Central Regional Secretary, took the opportunity to remind the communication officers of essential qualities they must embody. He stressed the importance of confidence, understanding key issues, localizing messages, being respectful and decorous in one’s discourse, remaining humble and loyal to the party. He further encouraged them to educate voters and work towards retaining the Parliamentary seat by supporting Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe while also securing a second term for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama as President.

Ekumfi NDC PC Urges Party Executives to be Dutiful Ahead of 2024 Elections

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ekumfi Constituency in the 2024 elections, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, has called on party executives to be diligent and prepared as the elections approach.

During a meeting at Essuehyia with past and current executives from branch to constituency levels, including parliamentary aspirants, former DCE and both past and present MPs, Dr. Kwainoe emphasized the importance of each member fulfilling their assigned duties. He passionately urged members not to shirk their responsibilities, underscoring the crucial role they play in the party’s success.

He also took the opportunity to reassure all aspirants, asking them to unite behind him in securing the victory they deserve. Dr. Kwainoe further encouraged everyone to foster peace and unity, particularly with him as the Parliamentary Candidate.

Speaking on behalf of his fellow aspirants, Mr. Saeed Abdulai Obi reaffirmed their commitment to the party and the candidate. He cautioned against divisive messages and actions from opponents, warning that such behavior could distract them from their primary goal of galvanizing votes for victory.

Constituency Chairman, Alhajj Joseph Antobam, in his remarks, reassured members of the party’s dedication to working tirelessly for victory. He also noted that, executive members who distinguish themselves through hardwork will be duly rewarded.

This meeting was one of the many strategies employed by the party to foster solidarity, strengthen relationships, and map out the road to victory in the upcoming elections.
