The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Ekumfi Constituency in the 2024 elections, Hon. Stelfa Nana Adu Okumkom Donkor, has honourably conceded defeat to the MP-Elect, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In an interview with Nana Kwabena Sabin, host of Coastal FM 94.9 MHz in Mankessim, Nana Adu Donkor expressed gratitude to God and his supporters, acknowledging his defeat while commending his opponent for his victory. He assured his willingness to support Dr. Kwainoe in any way necessary to ensure a successful tenure.
Hon. Adu Donkor emphasized the importance of peace and unity, urging members of both the NPP and NDC to foster harmony. He appealed to jubilant supporters of the NDC to celebrate their victory in moderation and urged his own supporters to avoid confrontations, stressing, “all we need is peace in Ekumfi so our brother Ekow Kwainoe can have a smooth tenure.”
When questioned about a potential comeback in the 2028 elections, Okumkom expressed uncertainty, stating his desire to step away from active politics for some time to rest.
If victorious, Okumkom Donkor would have been the second MP from the NPP after Hon. Francis Kingsley Ato Codjoe, who served from 2016 to 2020.
