HE John Dramani Mahama

Shortly after being officially declared winner (Presidential-Elect) in the December 7, 2024, elections by the Returning Officer of the Presidential Elections, Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has applauded His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for conceding defeat early, even before the Electoral Commission’s final declaration.

President Mahama described Dr. Bawumia’s gesture as a commendable show of statesmanship, which helped to calm any potential tensions before the official declaration of the results.

Making his first official speech as the President-Elect, Mr. Mahama expressed his gratitude to Ghanaians for entrusting him with the opportunity to complete his second term. He is set to be sworn-in on January 7, 2025.

Mr. John Mahama also urged members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and all supporters to celebrate their victory in a moderate and respectful manner. “Let us now rally together to build the Ghana we all want,” he emphasized, encouraging collective efforts in nation building.

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s resounding victory is seen as a testament to the trust Ghanaians have in his leadership. Among thirteen candidates on the Presidential ballot, Mr. Mahama garnered an overwhelming 6 million plus votes, respresenting 56.55% of the total valid votes cast.
