Attakwaa T.I. Ahmadiyya Basic School (ATIABS) in the Ekumfi District has successfully inaugurated a Climate Change Club in line with a directive from the Regional Directorate of Education to promote environmental awareness across basic schools. The event took place on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at the school premises.
The club, which comprises forty-seven pupils, is structured with two patrons, executive members, and general members drawn from both male and female pupils. Mr. Michael Ansah and Madam Faustina Quansah serve as patrons of the club.
The executive body is led by Francis Donkoh as President, with Blessing Baidoo serving as Vice President. Other executives include Muniru Ismaila and Saddick Anderson as Organisers, while Priscilla Yeboah and Emmanuella Aggrey serve as Secretaries.
The formation of the club is aimed at equipping pupils with knowledge and practical skills to address climate change challenges and promote environmental sustainability within the school and the wider community.
School authorities indicated that the club will spearhead activities such as tree planting, environmental sanitation, plastic waste management, and climate change sensitisation programmes.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Ghana Education Service to instil environmental responsibility in young learners and empower them to become agents of change in their communities.
The school has also expressed its readiness to participate in upcoming training programmes to further strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of the club.
