MP for Ekumfi Throws Party for Constituents

 

 

In a gleeful moment of gratitude and celebration, the Member of Parliament for Ekumfi Constituency, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, graciously organised a victory party and fun games for constituents to mark his success in the 2024 Parliamentary Elections.

The event, held on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at Ekumfi Essuehyia, was both timely and well attended with over 1,500 attendees.

Hon. Dr. Ekow Kwainoe expressed his heartfelt thanks to traditional leaders, party executives from branch to constituency levels, groups such as the Teachers' Forum and Fanofom Fun Club, party members, and individuals whose tireless efforts contributed to his decisive victory. He pledged to strategically position all groups to help fulfil their purpose and support development in Ekumfi.

He called for unity among members and urged continued support for his tenure. Dr. Kwainoe also commended the DCE applicants for demonstrating true leadership following the President's nomination and the subsequent confirmation of Hon. Ismaeel Nana Asamoah by Assembly Members. 

Touching on National issues, Dr. Kwainoe outlined key policies of the John Dramani Mahama led administration set to benefit the people of Ekumfi.

Also present was Hon. Dr. Ebenezer Prince Kojo Arhin, MP for Mfantseman Constituency, who pledged support for Dr. Kwainoe. He promised to partner with him to organise an annual free health screening for party executives and members, while also assuring students of scholarship opportunities for further education and professional advancement. 

Taking his turn, Hon. Ismaeel Nana Asamoah, DCE for the Ekumfi District Assembly, assured attendees of equitable access to government interventions, regardless of political affiliation. He emphasized his commitment to inclusive development.

The Constituency Chairman, Alhajj Joseph Antobam, led a moment of silence in honour of fallen heroes of the party, acknowledging their dedication and sacrifice.

The festive occasion featured games such as eating competition, ludo, draughts, and tug-of-war, accompanied by assorted food, drinks and dancing. Certificates of appreciation were presented to executives at all levels in recognition of their dedicated service during the 2024 elections.

Mfantseman MP Mobbed in Ekumfi

Dr. Prince Arhin, MP for Mfantseman 

The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, Hon. Dr. Ebenezer Prince Kojo Arhin, received a rousing welcome in Ekumfi on Monday, April, 2025.

Dr. Arhin was in the constituency to join his colleague, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, MP for Ekumfi, at a victory party held at Ekumfi Essuehyia. The mammoth crowd that greeted him reflected the warmth and hospitality of the people of Ekumfi.

Seizing the moment, Dr. Arhin urged attendees to remain united and focused. He commended the admirable leadership demonstrated by the District Chief Executive applicants following the nomination and confirmation of Hon. Ismaeel Nana Asamoah by the President, HE John Dramani Mahama and Assembly Members. He encouraged them to work hand in hand to realise the shared vision for development.

The Mfantseman legislator also pledged his support to Dr. Kwainoe, promising to facilitate an annual free health screening for party executives and members in the constituency.

In his address, Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe expressed heartfelt gratitude to party executives at all levels, traditional leaders, and constituents for their unwavering support during the 2024 parliamentary election, which he won decisively.

He appealed for continued unity and cooperation, stressing that only a united front can bring lasting development and success to Ekumfi.

Ekumfi MP Donates 1,000 Dual Desks to Ghana Education Service

 

In a symbolic presentation held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Ekumfi Essarkyir, Hon. Ismaeel Nana Asamoah, District Chief Executive for the Ekumfi District Assembly, on behalf on Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, Member of Parliament for Ekumfi, handed over 400 dual desks to the Ekumfi District Education Directorate. This marks the first consignment of a total 1,000 desks to be distributed to basic schools across the district.

Receiving the items, the District Director of Education, Ms. Kafui Mary Ahlijah, expressed her profound gratitude to the MP and his representatives for the timely intervention at such a critical time. She further appealed for continued support and stronger collaboration to uplift education standards in Ekumfi.

A distribution schedule for the desks has already been sanctioned to ensure swift delivery to beneficiary schools.

Hon. Nana Asamoah reaffirmed the MP’s unwavering commitment, as well as the Assembly’s, to improving education in the district.

As of 4:08PM GMT on Tuesday, the Shyn Media Gh team can confirm that an additional 200 dual desks had arrived and been offloaded, bring the current total to 600.

Key stakeholders present at the ceremony included Mr. Douglas Osei Yeboah, Coordinating Director, Hon. Kow Kakra Nketsia-Richardson, Presiding Member of the Ekumfi District Assembly, and officers from the District Education Directorate.

Climate Change Advisors Ghana Partners with UCC, CCTU in "Zero Plastic Waste" Campaign

As part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability and reduce plastic pollution in Ghana, Climate Change Advisors Ghana (CCAG) has donated plastic waste bins to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU).

The donation forms part of CCAG's "Zero Plastic Waste" campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at encouraging responsible waste disposal and promoting a recycling culture within educational institutions and local communities. 

Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony,  Dr. Samuel Ayeh Ofori,  Director of Research and Programmes at CCAG and Senior Lecturer at UCC, highlighted the vision of the initiative.  He explained that one of the adaptation strategies to enhance institutional and coastal resilience is the provision of plastic waste collection bins to support waste management systems.

The Executive Director and Co-founder of CCAG,  Mr. Peter Doh, elaborated on the organisation's operations and its goal to recycle plastic waste. He noted that transforming plastic waste into useful products such as pavement blocks through shredding and repurposing contributes to the circular economy. 

Professor Denis W. Aheto,  Pro Vice-Chancellor of UCC, thanked CCAG for the timely donation and suggested exploring other avenues for value addition. He encouraged the organisation to sustain the initiative by also considering the business potential as a means of generating resources for long-term impact. 

Mr. Salisu,  a lecturer at UCC, noted that the donation was timely, especially as the university prepares to introduce source segregation on campus. 

Presentation of plastic waste bins at CCTU 

At Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), Dr. Stephen Agyefi-Mensah,  Acting Director of Works and Physical Development,  received the donation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Management. He commended CCAG for the gesture and shared that the university has introduced a "Works Volunteer Service" programme,  which encourages students to support climate action efforts.  The programme includes a "Green and Clean CCTU" module focused on sustainable practices. 

Dr. Nana Esi Baduwa Taylor,  Patron of the Green Club at CCTU,  expressed appreciation for CCAG's support. She highlighted the alignment between the university's "Love Project" and CCAG's "Zero Plastic Waste" initiative, noting the positive impact of such collaborations on student engagement in environmental issues. She also suggested awarding certificates for voluntary service to enhance students' CVs and encourage participation. 

Dr. Baduwa Taylor appealed to Climate Change Advisors Ghana for additional bins and opportunities for further collaboration to help sustain efforts to combat plastic waste on campus. 

As part of their broader plans, CCAG is working closely with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and other stakeholder groups to ensure the smooth collection, transport, and treatment of plastic waste in line with national environmental standards.
