Resident of Kasoa Eulogises MCE for Awutu Senya East

File photo

In a Facebook post on Sunday, June 22, 2025, Mr. George Kobi Eshun, a resident of Kasoa, has heaped praises on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Seth Sabah Serwornoo-Banini, for what he describes as "Setting the Standard," as remarkable display of leadership.

Mr. Eshun recounted an unannounced visit by the MCE to his residence which was not for a social call, but to assess the drainage system in the area with the aim of improving its capacity to handle increasing water volumes. What impressed him the most was the fact that the visit occurred on a Sunday, a day traditionally reserved for rest.

Shortly after, the Municipal Engineer was also seen on-site evaluating the drainage system, confirming the seriousness of the MCE’s intention.

George described the young MCE as a committed leader willing to sacrifice personal time for community development. He praised his dedication to the municipality’s Reset agenda and urged residents to support his vision to make Awutu Senya East a model municipality in Ghana.

He concluded by stating that this level of passion and proactiveness is what leadership should look like, noting that President John Dramani Mahama would be proud of such commitment.

Players battle for ball
In a spectacular scouting football match between Ekumfi Royals and Kormantse Nkum FC on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the Mankessim AstroTurf in the Central Region, four standout players have earned the opportunity to travel to Europe for trials.

These promising talents, all from Ekumfi Royals, will now take the next step in their football careers after their sterling performance impressed scouts. The event was organized under the auspices of Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Ekumfi Constituency.

Scouts from Holland
Dutch lead scout, Reymond Veeboom, expressed satisfaction, commending both teams for their discipline and sportsmanship. He also congratulated Dr. Kwainoe for his efforts in organizing the event. With a remarkable career traversing over a decade, from 2010 to 2016, Veeboom served as the head of scouting and technical trainer for FC Twente in Germany. He later worked for the Dutch Football Association from 2016 to 2020, where he scouted talents in the youth premier league and served as head coach for the Holland U-14 team. From 2020 to 2023, Reymond Veeboom scouted for Ajax Amsterdam covering U-12 to U-23 teams in Germany and Holland. He also coached a female team in the Bundesliga. At present, he works as a freelance scout for various clubs worldwide, leveraging his far-reaching web in both men’s and women’s football.

This initiative is part of Dr. Ekow Kwainoe’s broader vision to support young talents in the constituency by providing them with avenues to exhibit their abilities. As he seeks the mandate of his constituents into Ghana’s Parliament, Dr. Kwainoe has also pledged to build a multipurpose sports complex to harness and develop local talents.

Further details, including the names of the successful players, will be announced in due course.

Youths Bare Teeth At Chiefs

File Photo
In recent Facebook posts by multiple concerned citizens of Saltpond and Nkusukum, sighted by Shyn Media Gh (@shynmediagh), the youths of the Nkusukum Traditional Area are livid and worked up over the decision by their Chiefs to change the date of their annual Odambea festival. The festival, traditionally celebrated on the last Saturday of August, commemorates their migration from Techiman to their present-day settlement.

The irate youths are baffled by the Chiefs’ decision to move the festival from August to October, based on the explanation that government officials often fail to attend the festival or arrive late due to attending the Abeadze Traditional Area festival on the same weekend.

Expressing their disappointment with this move, they are demanding that the chiefs revert the festival date to its original schedule. They believe that the lack of publicity, youth consultation, and involvement in the organisation are contributing factors to the perceived neglect by government officials.

This uproar arises because, the new date does not align with ancestral and traditional considerations, potentially diluting the festival’s traditional essence and leading to lower patronage by locals and those in the diaspora.

Amidst these concerns, the youths have set 31st August, 2024 as the date to celebrate their version of the festival, pending the reversal of the official date.
