Ghana TVET Service Donates to Support Differently Abled in Ekumfi

The Central Regional Guidance and Counselling Coordinator of the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service, Madam Araba Adantwi, has on behalf of the service, donated an undisclosed cash prize to support Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Ekumfi. This gesture was made during the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Ekumfi Eyisam.

The event, themed, “Transformative Inclusiveness for National Development,” was organized by Amorhkor Art Haus, a community-based organization that promotes social inclusion, advocates for basic rights, enhances skills development and wellness, and provides humanitarian services for the differently abled, orphans, youths and the aged.

In her address, Mrs. Anita Nana Seguah Ansah, the Central Regional Director of the National Youth Authority and Chairperson for the occasion, urged participants to prioritize skills training to break the cycle of poverty. She further pledged support for PWDs in entrepreneurship through internationally competitive skills training. “Do not belittle yourselves, make the best of your gifts,” she advised.

Mr. Seth Botchway, the Central Regional Head of RIME for Ghana TVET Service, highlighted the existence of a rehabilitation centre at the Biriwa National Vocational Training Institute, commending Nana Esi Ninsin VIII, CEO and Founder of Amorhkor Art Haus and Queen of the Ekumfi Nyimfa Division, for her similar initiative. He encouraged PWDs to take their studies seriously and seize opportunities for skills training.

Nana Esi Ninsin VIII revealed plans to collaborate with the National Youth Authority and the Ghana Enterprises Agency, to register 100 businesses owned by PWD entrepreneurs within and outside Ekumfi. She also appealed for both financial and material support to sustain the project.

The event saw representation from key stakeholders, including Mr. Joseph Baffoe, former Human Resource Manager of the Ekumfi Education Directorate, Mr. Dacosta Boahene, Head of Monitoring and Evaluation for Ghana TVET Service in the Central Region, Ms. Adwoa Mensima Eghan of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Ekumfi, Mr. Ebenezer Baidoo, a youth association leader from Essarkyir, and officials from Ekumfi Health Service, along with various youth groups.

Mahama Touts Ekow Kwainoe’s Achievement: Urges Electorate to Vote Massively for Him

In a three-day campaign tour to the Central Region, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate for the 2024 elections, has called on voters in the Ekumfi Constituency to support Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe in his bid to secure a seat in Ghana’s Parliament on December 7, 2024.

The former President made this appeal on Saturday, November 9, 2024, during a community engagement at Ekumfi Immuna. Mahama’s endorsement of Dr. Kwainoe stems from the candidate’s unwavering commitment to development in Ekumfi, even prior to assuming an official position as a Member of Parliament (MP). He highlighted one of Kwainoe’s notable initiatives; the reshaping and resurfacing of the Immuna road as a testament to his dedication.

Mr. Mahama acknowledged that Kwainoe’s intervention on the Immuna road greatly facilitated their journey to the community, which would otherwise have been prolonged significantly due to the road’s previous condition. He assured residents that, if elected, he would ensure a more extensive upgrade of the Immuna road along with other critical roads in the constituency to promote economic activities and drive development.

For Mahama, a victory in the upcoming elections will mean the opportunity to complete his second term, reset and restore the nation’s progress, and deliver good governance following the mess under the current administration. He emphasized that, Dr. Ekow Kwainoe’s election would provide Ekumfi Constituency with dependable advocate in Parliament serving as a catalyst for sustainable development.

Ekumfi Chiefs Petition Mahama For Development

The Chiefs of the Ekumfi Traditional Area have appealed to the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, urging him to address their development needs if he wins the 2024 elections.

Speaking on behalf of the chiefs, Nana Otwer Koko Nyieku VII, the Sumankwaahen of Ekumfi Traditional Area and Odzikro of Ekumfi Srafa commended Mahama’s achievements during his previous term as president, describing him as “Action Man” and “Edwumawura” in contrast to the current NPP government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia. Nana Nyieku VII lamented that, the current administration has neglected Ekumfi, noting that, “not even a kilometer of road has been tarred by this current administration.’ 

Nana Nyieku VII expressed confidence that, only Mahama’s leadership and the NDC’s governance could bring the much needed development to Ekumfi. He urged Mahama to prioritize infrastructure projects such as road improvements and the mechanization of agriculture. He further pledged the chiefs’ readiness to allocate land for agricultural and other developmental initiatives.

Reiterating the community’s desire for change, Nana Nyieku VII cautioned Mahama to remain alert and attentive in the upcoming elections, despites the gods endorsing his victory. “Shine your eyes,” he repeated three times, emphasizing the need for vigilance.

Finally, Nana Nyieku VII appealed to Mahama to consider Dr. Ekow Kwainoe for appointment in his government, seeing it a strategic move to foster development within Ekumfi.
